How to shred textiles?

Textiles are a notoriously difficult product to break. We face a number of challenges when dealing with textiles such as clothing and uniforms. These can be made up of a variety of different materials, everything from denim to wool, metal to sponge. Therefore, we need a broken solution that can handle this complexity and diversity.

At Kowloon, we have the equipment and expertise to handle more difficult materials. Our twin-shaft shredders feature a sturdy structural design and are equipped with a wear-resistant shredding system to efficiently process a variety of textiles. In one operation, the material is pre-crushed and then any material that fails to pass the screen is sent to a secondary fine crusher for re-crushing. This treatment ensures complete shredding regardless of the textile’s composition.

Our crushers can be customized according to customers’ specific requirements, equipped with appropriate torque, cutters, screens, etc. This means we can cater for a wide range of different processing needs, from simple shredding tasks to complex reuse projects.

Additionally, if clothing needs to be safely destroyed, perhaps because it comes from sensitive areas such as the police or armed forces, our customers can use our equipment with confidence.

Recently, our colleagues configured a production line consisting of a dual-shaft shredder for a customer to process waste clothes into solid recycled fuel (SRF). This solution demonstrates our expertise and technical strength in the field of textile shredding.

While textile shredding may not be a common subject, it is one of the areas where we are able to offer a great deal of expertise. We are committed to providing our customers with effective solutions to help them solve their textile shredding and reuse challenges. If you think we can help with your company’s textile projects, please feel free to contact us.
